BOURNEMOUTH and Poole College is £1.4 million better off thanks to investment from the Skills Funding Agency.

It is one of more than 50 colleges across the UK to receive money in the third phase of the government’s Enhanced Renewal Grant.

College Principal Lawrence Vincent said no decisions have yet been made about how to spend the money but added: “We are delighted to have received the Enhanced Renewal Grant and will be investing this into improving the experience of our students.”

Business Secretary Vince Cable announced grants of £110 million and said: “These projects will transform the learning environment for thousands of students across the country, providing them with state-of-the-art facilities and modern resources that will help them fulfil their potential. Addressing gaps in skills is an important part of our industrial strategy.”
