THE pedestrian seriously injured crossing the A351 near Corfe Castle on Sunday had just got off a bus, it has emerged.

Police have renewed their appeal for witnesses as the 62-year-old Corfe woman continues to fight for life in Southampton General Hospital.

Officers say she was involved in a collision with a black Ford Focus car at Norden Bridge, just before 6pm, shortly after getting off a Wilts and Dorset bus.

The woman suffered life-threatening injuries and remains in a critical condition. Meanwhile, the Ford Focus driver, a 55-year-old Swanage woman, was uninjured.

Police Constable Kevin Adlem, of Poole Traffic Unit, said: “It is believed the lady had just got off the number 40 Wilts and Dorset bus on Gallows Hill and a man got off the bus at the same time.

“Sadly she was then in collision with the Ford Focus as she crossed the road.

“I am very keen to speak to anyone who has information on the movements of the man and woman as they attempted to cross the road and the movements of the Focus prior to the collision.”

Officers are particularly keen to speak to the occupants of a car travelling along the A351 towards Wareham around the same time.
