COUNCILLOR Janet Walton, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Children’s Services, Borough of Poole said: “In Poole we are once again pleased with both attainment and progress figures at Key Stage 2 which show continued improvement for the fourth year in a row.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank governors, head teachers, school staff and all those who have worked together for their tireless efforts and commitment to helping children reach their full potential.

“These improving results, in conjunction with a number of successful Ofsted inspections under the new tougher framework, reflects our confidence that Poole’s forward-thinking, partnership approach to school improvement is leading to an increasing number of good and outstanding schools across the borough.”

Councillor Toni Coombs, cabinet member for children’s services at Dorset County Council, said: “We are pleased that our primary schools are continuing to improve. This is down to continued commitment and hard work from Dorset teachers and pupils.

“This adds to the recent good news that 87 per cent of our schools were rated as outstanding or good by Ofsted.

“There is always room for improvement and we’ll be working with schools to help raise the standard even further.”
