A HUGE musical with 150 children is being praised by showbiz agents.

The youngsters from Stepping Out’s four dance academies have been treading the boards at Carter Community School in a production celebrating the performance school’s 21st anniversary.

And principal Angela Taylor said visiting agents have described the show as “West End” standard.

She said: “The kids have been really good.

“And we had an agent in last night saying it is a very professional show.

“We are getting the kids as close to a West End experience as possible within their community.”

The hall at the school in Blandford Road, Hamworthy, was transformed into a theatre in a week with technology for the performances coming from sponsors Aercomp in Upton.

The new musical was written by director Tommy Bond from Stage Factor Productions.

It brings together parts of previous shows with the story following the performers in their search for the meaning of the show’s mysterious name, Egba.

The Steppin’ Out performance academies based at the school in Hamworthy, Ringwood, Bournemouth and Spetisbury have joined together for the dance extravaganza with ages ranging from three to 19.

Alison said: “It’s really nice that we’ve got a community following and support. And it’s really pleasing to have that praise from the agents.”
