WESSEX junior star Joel Roberts has jetted out to Brazil to play for Great Britain at the Brazilian School Olympics.

The 16-year-old Twynham School pupil is the youngest member of the under-18 team competing in Brazil over the next seven days. He was previously a member of the national under-16 squad.

Joel is relishing the opportunity to play against the best teams in one of the world’s strongest volleyball nations.

The squad travel to Rio to Cuiaba where the School Olympics volleyball competition which started yesterday and finishes on Wednesday, December 5.

It is a unique opportunity for Joel and his team-mates who travel as guests of the Brazil 2016 Olympic Committee.

He will be joined in South America by fellow under-18 Dorset volleyball stars Sam Walrond and Sam Walrond and Sam Allen.
