Motorists advised to avoid Constitution Hill Road while burst main is fixed
2:46pm Wednesday 21st November 2012 in News By Alex Winter
CONSTITUTION Hill Road in Poole is partially closed today due to a burst water main.
Water was still cascading down the hill and in to Harbour View Road in the afternoon, and police attended until Wessex Water were able to put up temporary traffic lights.
Distribution controller Chris Retter-Wilkins said: “It’s a burst four-inch cast iron main.
“At the moment, it’s looking like it will take around four or five hours to fix. We’ve got to find it and dig down to get to it before we can fix it. I’d advise motorists to avoid the road for a while as we’ve got one lane part-closed, and it’s going to stay that way for a while.”
The closure will last until around 6pm this evening based on Wessex Water’s estimations.
