THE circus is coming to town to celebrate Bournemouth’s tourism industry in a week’s time.
The seventh annual Bournemouth Tourism Awards take place at the O2 in Boscombe on Thursday, November 22, and organisers say nearly 300 tickets have been sold.
The O2 Academy will roll back the clock for one night only to a time of high trapeze acts, feats of daring strength and balance, jaw-dropping contortionists and spell-binding circus performances.
It will be hosted by Heart Radio presenter Paul Bunker and “plenty of surprises” are being promised.
The arrival of a classic traction engine, the Yorkshire Belle will be just one attraction on the night, transported down especially for the evening by awards sponsors S&D Leisure.
James Eels, chairman of Bournemouth Tourism Management Board, said: “This year’s awards ceremony will have a dramatic, theatrical atmosphere, unlike any previous year and tickets this year have been selling faster than any other.
“While the stage acts and Victorian entertainment will make it a superb evening, this is the best night of the year to celebrate the cream of Bournemouth’s tourism industry, and we hope everyone in the business will want to be present for an unforgettable night.”
New this year is the Daily Echo People’s Choice Award, while other categories will recognise hotels, shopping, evening entertainment, tourism attractions, customer service, restaurants and transport, among other areas.
Tickets for the black-tie, gala evening cost £50 per person or £400 for a table of 10.
