THE driver involved in the serious single-vehicle accident on the A338 Spur Road on Tuesday morning remains in hospital in a stable condition.

The man is in Poole Hospital receiving treatment to serious injuries after the car he was driving flipped into a field before coming to land on the northbound carriageway.

He was thrown from the Subaru Impreza before it caught alight.

The accident happened just before 6am close to the Cooper Dean roundabout and forced police to close both northbound lanes for three hours while emergency services dealt with the incident.

It was one of a series of accidents which caused widespread chaos around Bournemouth and Poole.
