STUNNING images of Dorset have helped the latest Daily Echo book to top the list of best-sellers in a major book store.

Dorset: A Photographic Journey in an Olympic Year is top of the pile at Waterstones in Bournemouth.

Despite tough competition from major celebrities in the run-up to Christmas, copies have been flying off the shelves.

This week the 176-page book beat chef Jamie Oliver’s 15 Minute Meals into second place, Miranda Hart’s Is It Just Me? into third and My Time by Bradley Wiggins into fourth place.

Senior bookseller Markus Turner said: “It has a ready market. Our tourists love it and the locals love it too.

“Even without Christmas, it would still have been a big seller for us.”

The book, the latest from a string of successful titles produced by the Daily Echo, has chapters covering all areas of the county and a special section dedicated to Dorset’s involvement in the Olympics and Para-lympics this summer.

From a sunrise on the River Frome at Wareham and Christmas Eve at Bournemouth pier to autumn colour in Bournemouth’s gardens and the Anvil Point lighthouse at Durlston, there’s something for everyone.

Beautiful images have been captured by the Daily Echo’s award winning photographers and contributors from across the county.

The variety of scenery and things to do in Dorset is illustrated with snow scenes, packed beaches, the county’s rolling hills and exciting sailing events.
