A FORMER member of Poole Hospital staff found dead in his room on the site could have been there for between two and four weeks before being discovered.

Paul Brown, who was in his 40s, was discovered at Parkstone House, the tower block in Parkstone Road, on Sunday October 28.

“Police broke the door down on Sunday after someone reported a smell,” said a member of the hospital staff.

“It’s very sad that someone like this could have been there for two to four weeks and not been missed.”

Parkstone House, is sometimes referred to as the nurses’ home, but is managed by Western Challenge Housing Association and provides 260 rooms for a range of key workers in Poole.

Although no longer on the hospital payroll, Mr Brown is believed to have worked there for some time in departments including medical records and the stores.

A spokeswoman for Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust said: “We can confirm that he was a former employee and would like to add that our thoughts are with the family at this time.”

Dorset Police has confirmed that officers were called to the block following a report of concern for the welfare of an occupant.

Paramedics were called and a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the man’s death and the coroner has been notified.

Next of kin of the single man have been told. The Bournemouth, Poole and East Dorset Coroner has been informed and an inquest will be held.

A Coroner’s officer said: “The cause of death is unascertained and we are awaiting the results of tests.”

Western Challenge has declined to make any comment.
