A CHRISTCHURCH autism charity has received a £5,000 donation from a Hurn-based business.

The Wessex Autistic Society gratefully accepted the cheque from Basepoint Bournemouth as part of a match-funding relationship with the company.

The charity is Basepoint’s nominated cause for 2012/2013.

Gemma Saunders, corporate partnerships officer at the Society said: “We have enjoyed a good relationship with Basepoint Bournemouth with previous match-funding having afforded an MPV for Portfield School and the school safety crossing to educate students in safety awareness.

“We’re delighted to have re-ignited the partnership and both our own school summer fair and summer solstice run have contributed to this significant donation, as has Basepoint’s own fundraising activity.”

Carly Thompson, regional manager of Basepoint, which is based at Aviation Business Park, said: “We are really pleased to have raised significant funds for such a worthwhile local cause.

“The team at Basepoint Bournemouth are highly motivated to hold events and ensure we raise the £10,000 match-fund target for our chosen charity.

“We are well on the way, having raised half the target sum in total, the proceeds of which will all go towards the charity’s free information and advice service.”
