A POOLE photographer who spends hours exploring Dorset in search of perfect pictures was delighted to see four of his efforts in the Daily Echo’s new photo book.

Father-of-two Garry Wells started taking pictures 30 years ago, mainly to build up a photographic record of his two daughters growing up.

But he later developed a love of landscape photography and now he and his partner Jennifer Keefe spend much of their spare time walking and taking photos of Dorset beauty spots.

His favourite picture in Dorset: A Photographic Journey in an Olympic Year is an atmospheric black and white shot of Corfe Castle. He also has pictures of Worbarrow Bay, Chiswell Beach and Colmer’s Hill in the stunning new hardbook book.

He said: “I’ve lived in Dorset for around 35 years and it’s a brilliant county to photograph. We’re always saying what a fantastic place it is.

“We go down to Kimmeridge quite a lot and I’ve photographed the process of the rebuilding of the Clavell Tower. Kimmeridge is one of our favourite spots, along with Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door and Dancing Ledge. I’ve walked the whole length of the Dorset coast in both directions.

“I think the photo book is brilliant. I was only expecting to get one picture in there but was really pleased to see that four made it.”

Dorset: A Photographic Journey in an Olympic Year, featuring the magnificent coast, wild heathland, beautiful beaches and picturesque woodland, is now being snapped up at book shops all over the county.

The hardback costs £14.95 and covers all areas from Christchurch to North Dorset and Purbeck to Portland, with descriptions of scenes and details of how to buy copies of the pictures.

Sponsored by letting agents Allan and Bath, the 176-page publication can be obtained from various outlets across Dorset.
