STREETLIGHTS will be replaced in New Milton from next year with more energy efficient equipment.
Hampshire County Council will begin a new programme to replace the 30-year-old lighting stock including 1,210 lanterns, 1,750 lanterns and posts and eight listed columns.
It will lead to less light pollution, improved road safety and a reduction in carbon.
Cllr Mel Kendal, deputy leader and executive member for environment and transport said: “We have put a lot of preparation and planning into the street lighting programme in New Milton to try to keep disruption to a minimum.”
