DORSET residents are being urged to report potholes to the county council so it can carry out repairs.
The authority has urged residents to approach it directly rather than using websites like streetrepairs.co.uk, which has launched National Pothole Day today to raise awareness of the problem.
Councillor Peter Finney said: “By reporting damaged roads to us directly we can start the process of scheduling their repair without delay.
“Local residents can input details on the website or call in. This information goes straight into our system and we can start prioritising the work.”
The council said it had repaired 12,000 potholes last year. Potholes are ranked according to the risk presented to road users, with the highest risk scheduled for repair within 32 hours. Most are repaired within 28 days of being reported.
