AFTER a literally explosive start, the Bournemouth Arts by the Sea Festival has more goodies to offer in its second week. Tonight sees the atmospheric surroundings of the Shelley Theatre in Boscombe host a brand new production of Mozart’s comic opera Cosi Fan Tutte.

The Dorset Corset Theatre Company presents this fully staged spectacle on October 5, 6, 12 and 13 at 7.30pm.

The opera is just under three hours long including an interval, sung in its original Italian and accompanied by a piano quintet.

The audience is encouraged to embrace the period features of the Shelley Theatre by following an optional dress code of vintage 1940s’ glamour.

Tomorrow afternoon provides an opportunity to join the charismatic principal conductor of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra Kirill Karabits. A special commission for the Festival, the conductor will be at The Print Room on Richmond Hill and tickets will include a decadent afternoon tea.

Sunday sees the Arts by the Sea Festival join in the 350th birthday celebrations of iconic mischief maker Mister Punch by commissioning a puppetry show with a twist.

Carnival of Objects’ The Nose gives Punch and Judy a new lease of life as their puppet booth sprouts legs and moves about the stage, from which the unruly pair narrate a darkly humorous adaptation of Gogol’s The Nose. The show runs at the Ocean Room of Pavilion Dance at 7pm.
