SHAGGY haired comedian Alan Davies will make a rare appearance at the Pavilion Theatre on Thursday.

The star of television quiz show QI and detective series Jonathan Creek is coming to Bournemouth as part of his first stand-up tour in over 10 years.

Now better known as a panellist and actor – Jonathan Creek won a prestigious Bafta award for best drama – Davies began his career as a stand-up comedian, winning the critic’s award at the Edinburgh Festival in 1994.

He hit the headlines in 2007 when he was involved in an altercation with a man who recognised him in the street and reportedly bit his ear.

He also faced a backlash from Liverpool FC fans in April this year after he commented in a podcast about the team’s refusal to play on the anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster.

At the end of last year his Life is Pain tour played to sold out venues across Australia.
