FORMER Big Breakfast presenter and stand-up Paul Tonkinson will be bringing his polished line in mimicry and ridicule to Lighthouse, Poole, on September 27.
Enjoying a long and varied career, Paul Tonkinson’s highlights include hosting The Big Breakfast for Channel 4, Sunday Show on BBC2 and Take The Mike on ITV and seminal work on MTV Hot when a mere whippersnapper, while on the radio he has hosted the Breakfast Shows on Xfm Manchester and London and numerous appearances on BBC Radio 5Live’s Fighting Talk.
However, it is stand-up comedy that is Tonkinson’s first love and propelled him round the world to the deserts of Iraq, the rolling tundra of Afghanistan and the shopping malls of Milton Keynes, along the way picking up many comedy awards.
He is now much in demand on the corporate and stand-up circuits with regular appearances on television and at festivals around the world including, most recently, Montreal and New Zealand.
Recent appearances on television include Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow on BBC1 and Live At The Comedy Store on Comedy Central.
He is currently developing a sitcom with Baby Cow productions, preparing for a national stand-up tour and also writes a monthly column for Runners World.
