EDUCATION through terror is a bold idea and one that seems to work. Production company Erth, effortlessly managed to educate, entertain and fascinate with their show Dinosaur Zoo that gave children a lesson in pre-historic creatures, but to the world of theatre, drama, sound and much more.

I say terror, but while my three-year-old daughter sat trembling, she was also spellbound at the Hollywood style design effects and the assorted dinosaurs that stampeded onto the stage. Performed entirely by Erth puppeteers and performers - Shaun Morton had adults and children roaring with laughter as he hosted and lectured on the toothy exhibits of the zoo.

Imagine a cross between Jurassic Park and Horrible Histories, and then you’ll be somewhere close to the Dinosaur Zoo live experience. The ingenious puppetry absolutely brought dinosaurs to life on stage, which while initially scary for children proved to be a rewarding 50 minutes that’ll long be remembered.

Throughout the show, some of the braver children were brought on stage to interact with the giant puppets. By the finale, the remaining young audience of dinosaur fanatics had also conquered their initial fears and were queuing to meet the baby dinosaurs and the fearsome T Rex.
