QUEENS Of The Stone Age arrived at the O2 Academy hot on the heels of their blistering set at Glastonbury. Yet if Josh Homme was still hungover from playing the biggest music festival in Britain, he was dealing with it as every rock star should.

"Doctors orders," he said, swigging from a bottle of tequila before launching in to Do It Again.

And so continued the stomp through their stoner rock set, an uncompromising compilation of rough and ready songs that reminded us all why the gig sold out so long ago.

Front man Josh Homme delivered riffs that were worth the ticket price alone.

Feel Good Hit Of The Summer had set the tone early on, which was followed by 3’s and 7’s, taken off their last album, Era Vulgaris.

The crowd were treated to an industrial strength instrumental during Better Living Through Chemistry, before the set took on a darker, heavier flavour with the likes of Hanging Tree.

This was followed by Make It Wit Chu, Little Sister and First It Giveth before the encore.

"We want more" chanted the crowd, as the band exited the stage. "So do we," said Homme, as they returned for Burn The Witch.

We had a vote for the last song. "No One Knows or Song For The Dead?" asked Josh.

It was too close to call so they played both and the glorious, extended outro of the latter is still ringing in my ears.
