HE may have come second in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s televised search for a new Joseph, but Keith Jack made the role all his own when he took to the Mayflower’s stage.
Starring in the touring production of the ever-popular musical, Keith had the audience in the palm of his hand as he belted out song after song.
Being small of stature, it was hard for him to command any real stage presence, but he had Joseph’s vulnerable, naive side down to a tee and showcased a powerful voice during show favourite Close Every Door.
Anyone who’s ever seen Joseph will know it’s all about the comedy and the lyrics really showcasing the talent of Tim Rice – who else could come up with lines like “find a man to lead you through the famine, with a flair for economic planning”?
Adam Jarrell went down a storm as the Elvis-inspired Pharaoh and narrator Jennifer Potts held the show together nicely with her phenomenal voice.
It was high energy right down to the very last encore as the 11 brothers had the delighted audience up on their feet.
Hugely enjoyable.
