Fans of Shooting Stars will know that Angelos is a man of many talents. He can keep score and trade burgers and banter with Vic and Bob. Somehow he successfully fends off the predatory man-eater Ulrikka.

But how many realise the true potential of this veritable polymath? At the O2, he revealed, for example, his knack for impersonations (Nelson Mandela, Jason Bourne), singing (there was nary a dry eye during his Chris Rea tribute) and even hosting an exciting new quiz show.

Why, he had three jokes, an entire hat-trick of hilarity - which is at least two more than many comics.

Epithemiou - the alter egoo of actor and comedy writer Dan Renton Skinner - is an inspired creation, a man of limited means and charisma, but absolutely no shortage of confidence.

Politically incorrect (his "feminist" joke, for example, is anything but) and socially naive, he redeems himself with exemplary fashion sense - no one has looked this good in hitched-high tracksuit trousers or skin-tight spangly silver all-in-one since the 70s.

The only downside was the quality (or lack of) of the heckling, although Angelos, being a man of the world, took it comfortably in his stride.
