WOW! If you’re in need of a lively, fun-filled and dynamic night out, then Bournemouth’s Pavilion Theatre is the place to be on Friday and Saturday night.

From the moment the talented and artistic young performers started strutting their stuff, the audience was captivated and drawn in by their infectious enthusiasm.

Slick dance routines, pitch-perfect voices, a spectacular set and dazzling costumes put Now That’s What I Call Showtunes 2 on a par with top West End shows.

It was easy to forget we were watching an amateur performance, predominantly featuring local school children. The main difference was the price tag – a fantastic night out for a £16.50 ticket.

All the cast are members of the Big Little Theatre School’s youth theatre companies, aged between eight and 19. Their dedication and professionalism shone throughout the night and it was clear they had picked up many tips from the top directors and choreographers who regularly teach them.

Musical Director and Producer Colin Billing certainly knows how to get the best out of his cast.

This high-energy spectacular is the school’s 10th annual show and every year it seems to get better and better.

The show, which runs until Saturday, has something for everyone featuring hits from the musicals including Shrek, Cats, Miss Saigon, Singin in the Rain, Jesus Christ Superstar and Hello Dolly.

All were brilliantly performed but it was Sister Act in the finale which really stole the show and had the audience on their feet on the opening night.

This show comes highly recommended for all ages and, if you’re feeling a little down in the dumps, it’s definitely the ultimate pick-me-up. I defy you to leave without a smile on your face.
