The Tivoli was absolutely buzzing tonight.

T-Rextasy featuring Danielz were back as part of a tour celebrating what would have been Mark Bolans seventieth birthday and of course a body of work that will live on forever.

Nearly every seat was taken by a mixture of die-hard fans from the 70's and people who were born long after the sad loss of Mark Bolan.

The band took to the stage, launched straight into Telegram Sam followed by Metal Guru people and the crowd were immediately on their feet and dancing in the aisles from the moment the first note rang out.

This was a great mix of an excellent band and front man coupled with songs that are still instantly recognisable after 40 years.

For the audience that had gone along out of curiosity there were the big hits like Debora, 20th Century Boy, Jeepster, Children of The Revolution and Solid Gold all delivered with enthusiasm and authenticity.

For the avid Bolan fans there were plenty of less well known gems from albums and B-sides like Sailors of The Highway and an acoustic set including Cosmic Dancer and Dreamy Lady.

The evening came to a tumultuous end with Born To Boogie, Ride a White Swan, I Love To Boogie and Get It On Followed by an encore of Hot Love.

People are often divided about tribute bands but tonight it was great to see a group as good as T-Rextasy keeping the music of Marc Bolan alive and getting people going to gigs which in turn keeps brilliant venues like the Tivoli alive.
