WHAT a start to Christmas!

Pop rock favourites The 1975 raised the roof in front of a sell-out crowd at the Bournemouth International Centre last night.

The love and enthusiasm for this incredibly popular band were palpable before they set foot on the stage.

They may have been around for nearly 15 years but they are definitely the band of the moment.

Perhaps their slow rise to superstardom is what sets them apart from the rest.

They’d been together for more than 10 years before they were plucked from obscurity, supported hugely by the BBC Introducing feature.

The show oozes personality and a two-hour set from an act capable of selling out huge venues within minutes is pretty rare these days.

The show kicked off with Love Me and UGH! before steaming off on a rollercoaster of emotions.

A stunning set, clever use of mirrors and awesome lighting helped to make this a very special concert.

Frontman Matt Healy had the audience in the palm of his hand as he chatted and mused about the state of the world between songs.

And bandmates Adam Hann, Ross MacDonald and George Daniel looked equally at home in front of the adoring crowd.

They’ve been together since they were at school and it shows. They’re so comfortable in each other’s company you can imagine them all sitting on the sofa in their onesies at Christmas.

And it seems that's exactly where Matt wants to be after admitting he's tired.

With a string of hit singles and two number one albums behind them, The 1975 were not short of material to keep the audience happy.

From slow and moving ballads to foot-stomping pop, the show had it all.

Hit singles Chocolate and Girls brought the house down and the band eventually left the stage to the sound of huge cheers after performing the Sound.

There’s one show to go before they get a well-deserved Christmas beak, then it’s off to mainland Europe and even Brazil.

Come back soon.
