IT’S 10pm in Bournemouth and a heavily-tattooed bearded man has just been thrown through a table.

No I’m not in the pub, but at the BIC as World Wrestling Entertainment rolls into town.

No longer called the WWF after losing a lawsuit to some pandas, the venue was packed out as some of the Superstars and Divas (apparently you’re not allowed to call them wrestlers) made their way to Dorset.

With a skeleton crew as flagship television programme RAW was being filmed in Liverpool at the same time, the show still had a surprising amount of star power. Once you get past the fact that you are watching people in tights pretending to fight, it really is a good family night out.

The youngsters get to cheer on their heroes and boo the villains while watching a huge display of athleticism.

In the opening bout Englishman Adrian Neville defended the NXT Championship against Sami Zayn in a match full of flips and top-rope dives.

Neville’s top rope finishing manouevre, the Red Arrow – a corkscrew shooting star press – has to be seen to be believed as he flips 360 degrees while spinning, very dangerous. After a fun Divas match, the incredibly popular Dean Ambrose beat the Swiss Superman Cesaro in a hard-hitting bout. After a brief intermission the WWE Tag Team titles were defended in an all-brother match as Goldust and Stardust took on the Uso twins.

One young fan was over the moon after catching one of Stardust’s golden gloves that had been thrown into the crowd.

The WWE machine is huge and sells out arenas around the world, Bournemouth was very lucky to host a show. Here’s hoping they come back next year.
