With debut album If You Leave charting at number sixteen in the UK, it is with little wonder that this event has sold out.
However, the music played over the PA that precedes the main act is a barrage of mainstream dull acoustic pop that floods the charts. Could this be a warning signal to Daughter that they may also slip into this bracket before they have really got started?
The London based three piece take to the stage and immediately Elena Tora's vocals cast a spell over the audience. Everyone united in an expectant attentive stance. Subtle guitar and an occasion drum beat accompany the beautiful singing.
The strength of the melodies match the theme of failed loves, haunting hurts and atmospheric angst with a few indie twee interruptions.
If Daughter continue at this rate, their tracks will appear on more adverts and be played over on daytime radio. It is lucky for this crowd that they were able to witness the rise up close at an intimate venue.
