THIS was about beach hut owners and the politics of who should be allowed to sit on the beach outside the huts and the disdain for people who rent instead of buying their huts.

Annie Robertson’s production was a wonderful piece of theatre. The Beach Huts were superb as were the props and costumes and the direction assured.

The cast of 17 worked together brilliantly and never once let the pace drop.

It would be difficult to mention every character here but Stan (Steve Watton) and Doug (Mike Bicknell) should be congratulated on their excellent portrayals. Mention must also be made of the two young people Max and Lexie Bovington who played needing the toilet with conviction.

But the biggest accolade must go to the magnificently miserable old curmudgeon as Stan’s mother, (Elizabeth Kay). An excellent evening’s entertainment.

Sand Castles runs until Saturday.
