CHAMPS are Michael and David Champion, two trendy-looking brothers from the Isle of Wight with a beautiful folk-rock sound.
With eerie vocals that will make listeners hold their breath and listen in the manner of Bon Ivor, their debut Down Like Gold is a perfect break-up album.
That said, first single Savannah and the track My Spirit Is Broken are both rather up-beat, while St Peters is the calm and catchy tune that caught the ears of Dermot O’Leary, who played it repeatedly on his BBC Radio 2 show back in 2012.
Mournful and gorgeous, this is perfect music to sway along to, cider in hand, at any of this summer’s alternative festivals.
