ACOUSTIC guitar virtuoso Newton Faulkner, right, is no stranger to Bournemouth having performed here several times already this year.

The dreadlocked singer appears this time at the O2 Academy Bournemouth on tonight.

Faulkner is the feel-good musician of the season, known for his singalong vibes. Despite his trademark rust-red dreads, he only seems to be recognised when the sun is out.

“For some reason if it's raining it can’t be me - but if the sun’s shining, then it’s definitely me,” he says.

“I’m completely affiliated with the sun. I get that now.”

Newton’s latest album, Write It On Your Skin, was released in July, while his debut double platinum selling album Hand Built By Robots spent more than ten months inside the album charts.

In the three years since his follow-up album, Rebuilt By Humans, he has toured the world, started a family and possibly helped usher in a new generation of singer-songwriters, such as Ed Sheeran, Ben Howard and Michael Kiwanuka.
