LAST year 80’s pop survivor Adam Ant played sold-out shows at the Pavilion Theatre and Mr Kyps, as part of his comeback tour. Now the New Romantic icon is back again to Stand and Deliver at the O2 Academy Bournemouth on November 11.

Backed by a seven-piece band called The Good, The Mad And The Lovely Posse, the singer will be performing his greatest hits along with his long-awaited new album Adam Ant Is The Blueblack Hussar in Marrying the Gunner's Daughter.

Adam – real name Stuart Goddard – had a string of chart-topping hits in the early 80s including Stand And Deliver and Prince Charming and was one of the decade’s most charismatic figures. Helped by the emergence of MTV, Adam And The Ants also became hot property across the Atlantic.

The band’s lavish music videos secured a devoted audience in the USA and culminated in Adam winning the MTV award for Sexiest Man In America in 1983, as well as being nominated for the Grammy for Best New Artist the year before.

After splitting with the band in 1982, Adam found himself acting on stage and in front of the camera, including numerous American TV shows. The 90s proved to be less productive for Adam as he struggled with problems both personal and professional.

The last few years have seen the 57-year-old regularly touring and back in the public eye. Let’s hope he finally gets round to releasing that comeback album.
