FEW bands could match the live power of Thin Lizzy in their 1970s heyday and in frontman and songwriter Phil Lynott they possessed a rock hero as charismatic as anyone you can name.
When he died in 1986, fans were left with a series of hard rocking but often inconsistent studio albums and a classic live set still reckoned to be the best of its kind.
But they now have Limehouse Lizzy, quite simply one of the most stunning tribute bands around, who make a welcome return to Mr Kyps in Parkstone on Friday.
Ex-band members may have attempted to keep the legacy alive, but they can’t come close to the tightness, power and sheer professionalism of frontman Wayne Ellis, the classic guitar pairing of Greg Alcock and Tim Read and the powerhouse drumming of Andy Fox.
Their latest Spirit of the Black Rose tour celebrates the Celtic flavour of Lynott’s writing, but fans can expect the customary powerhouse show and Lizzy hits, including Don’t Believe a Word, The Boys Are Back in Town, Jailbreak and many more.
