FANS of former Bros star Matt Goss will have a chance to get close up and personal with the singer when he performs his new Christmas show in Bournemouth next month.

Speaking from Las Vegas, which has been his home for the past seven-and-a-half years, Matt says he is really looking forward to coming back to the UK and reconnecting with his fans.

He will be performing some Christmas classics, covers and some of his own new material, as well as hosting a Q&A session with his fans when he visits the O2 Academy on Thursday, December 8.

“I can’t wait because it will be nice to do a show that’s a bit more intimate,” he says. “The O2 in London is massive, so it will be nice to be more relaxed.

“It’s going to be fun to be able to come and sing some songs that I love, that remind of Christmas, family and friends, and have a chat with the fans. I expect some of the questions are going to be really cheeky, but I am going to be asking them some questions as well!”

Matt is also hoping his fans will give him some ideas of what to do and where to visit when he arrives in town. (He was due to fly into the UK today)

“I think I’m ending the tour in Bournemouth so please ask your readers to tweet me @MattGoss with some ideas of where we can go afterwards that would be great!”

Matt sold more than 17 million records worldwide and packed out arenas including Wembley Stadium and the Royal Albert hall when he and his brother Luke performed with their hit boy band Bros in the ‘80s.

“I love my fans because they are so steadfast and loving. They love to share their stories and memories with me - usually about how they got into trouble with their mum or dad because they weren’t allowed to go to a Bros concert but they still managed to sneak out and go anyway!

“I’ve been on stage for 30 years so we’ve all grown up together, but it is quite a diverse group of people. Some of the fans are coming along with their husbands now and it’s great because they feel they have known you for so long.

“I feel blessed that I’m still doing this. When you’re a kid and you say you want to be a rock star and 30 years later you’re still doing it!”

Matt has had his share of highs and lows over his career. He has made a million, lost a million and built himself back up again - but he says he doesn’t have any regrets.

“I’m quite a spiritual person. There have been moments when I’ve trusted people that I wish now I hadn’t trusted - I genuinely believe that civility costs nothing.

“But I am my mother’s son and since she passed , I want to make her more proud of me than ever. We used to speak three times a day. She was my best friend. I still speak to her now - sort of conversational prayers.”

Last month Matt celebrated his 30th anniversary in the music industry with a one off show at Wembley arena. Matt and Luke also announced that they will be bringing back Bros and sold out the London O2 in a record breaking seven seconds.

“My brother and I had some ups and downs,” says Matt. “We needed some time apart from each other but now we are in a beautiful place - we are very close again which is one of the reasons why we are both able to get back on stage together. It feels nice now. We can’t wait to get back on stage and smash it!”

The brothers’ debut album Push went seven times platinum, spawned 13 top five hits and remained in the UK charts for a total of 84 weeks. After Bros broke up, Matt left the UK to start a new career in the States while Luke remained in the UK to pursue an acting career.

“I’ve spent longer in Las Vegas now than I did in the band and it has been a crazy time here. I was playing at Carnegie Hall the other week and I’ve also played at Madison Square Gardens and before 80,000 people in Times Square in New York which was amazing.”

Matt’s pop career hit at early peak with ‘I Owe You Nothing’ and ‘When Will I Be Famous’ when he was just 17.

“Some people think I might hate those hits by now but I don’t. You won’t believe how many people know that song - it was number one in 22 countries.

“One of the highlights was when 70,000 people turned up at Wembley stadium - it was such a special moment because you think of all the incredible things that have happened at that venue.”

Matt says his only wish is to find a special someone to share his life. “I do hope I will find the right person one day but right now I’ve got lots on the horizon to look forward to.”

He adds: “I want to come back to my roots and connect with Britain again and be back with my peeps! I also want Bournemouth to show me a good time for the last night please!”
