AN ACOUSTIC folk duo are taking on the pop establishment with a bid to reach the chart summit with a brand new festive single.

Tom Harrison and Michael Dale, who make up I Am The Cold Man, are set to release their new song Christmas Dreams later this month, which they hope will rewrite music history.

The pair, who met while studying for a Masters in Radio Production at Bournemouth University, say they were inspired by the current lack of Christmas songs reaching the top of the charts over the festive period.

Tom, who performs vocals, piano and trumpet, said: “Our aim is to put the Christmas back into Christmas number one.

“Back in the mid to late 1980s there was always a Christmas-themed song at number one. But since Band Aid in 2004 we haven’t had one, and we want to change that.”

Michael, who performs guitar and piano and was described by Chris Moyles as a “Jesus lookalike”, said: “Reality shows have tended to dominate festive charts in recent years but we think it’s time for real music to wrestle back the limelight and we hope our song can do that.

“We set out to write a feel good festive song, but also one which pokes fun at cheesy Christmas songs of the past. We had a lot of fun shooting the video and we hope that it will get people into the Christmas spirit.”

Christmas Dreams will be officially released on Itunes, Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music and other music platforms on November 25. Fans can pre-order the single and watch the exclusive video from Monday.
