POPULAR Bournemouth band Dubheart are set to be featured in a new BBC Four TV series on June 17 at 9pm.

The programme sees stand-up comedian Rhod Gilbert embark on a road trip across the UK to find The UK’s Best Part Time Band.

In each episode Rhod is joined by a British music legend as they visit bands playing in rehearsal spaces, pubs, barns and bedrooms.

In the third episode on the southern leg of the tour, Rhod and legendary producer and Soul II Soul founder Jazzie B get to meet Bournemouth dub reggae band, Dubheart, who are competing in the competition.

Dubheart drummer, Gavin Sant told the Bournemouth Daily Echo: “At the end of last year we were approached to take part, so we did screen test with the cameras and then got accepted to go onto the show.

“Without giving too much away we went on to do quite well through the whole show, and are featured right till the end of the programme.”

Dubheart were formed in 1999 with the core members of the crew all from Bournemouth. They produce and release all of the music themselves and have played many of the most popular festivals including Glastonbury, Endorse It In Dorset, Boomtown, Secret Garden Party, Outlook Croatia and too many more to mention.

The band are also releasing a new album at the same time, to coincide with the TV appearance, which will be available as a digital download on June 3.

n The UK’s Best Part Time Band airs at 9pm on BBC Four on Friday.
