POOLE singer/songwriter Tara Flanagan is set to launch her first single at Mr Kyps in Lower Parkstone with a show on June 28. The talented St Edwards sixth-form school student has just released the video to new single Run Run Run this week.

“It was shot in Lepe beach in the New Forest and then Burley. I actually did quite a bit of running around. It's my own original song that I wrote back in October,” says Tara.

Having regularly participated in shows, events and singing competitions from the age of 12, Tara began song writing when she was 13, accompanying herself on guitar and piano. Tara has since performed at the Bournemouth Food and Drink Festival, won the Hope FM Rising Star Award and became an Open Mic UK Grand Finalist this year. This Summer she is set to play at Gosfest and Oxjam Festival.

Back in January of this year she beat 10,000 applicants and reached the Grand Final of the National singing contest Open Mic UK performing her new material at the Birmingham NEC and also got awarded the Future Music 'Future Star Award'.

Tara added: “It's going to sound clichéd, but I started singing when I was six, as a hobby in choirs and at school. This will be my first solo show and I have some special guest acts also performing on the night. It'll be predominantly my own material and I'll be performing with a live band.”

This year Tara has been recording her debut EP at River Studios, Southampton. The five track EP includes electro-pop influences all songs written by Tara herself. Her debut single titled Run Run Run will be released on June 29 2015, with her debut EP soon to follow this summer.

Tara added: “I'm hoping to have a career in music and I know it will be tough. But I'm focused on pushing my original music out there. My family are really supportive, especially my Mum and she really helps me out. All my friends as well, so I'm really grateful.”
