IIN a coup for Bournemouth, one of the legends of the British folk scene is bringing his solo tour to the Bournemouth Folk Club on Sunday, February 1.

This special show takes place at the Ocean View Hotel on Grove Road, Bournemouth.

Phil Beer is one half of the acclaimed duo Show of Hands alongside Steve Knightley. Phil’s instrumental wizardry is well documented and has been called upon by countless artists over the years, the most notable being The Rolling Stones, Mike Oldfield and Steve Harley.

He has for many years been lead guitarist and singer with The Albion Band and co-wrote many of their songs. He has also made many forays into both film and television music as well as finding time to produce and record albums for other artistes.

While having his feet firmly in the acoustic camp, he has also kept busy with electric music over the past decade with an annual outing of the Phil Beer Band. These have become increasingly popular and are now packing out venues on an annual basis.

As you would expect from a performer of Phil’s calibre, his solo work is of top quality. He mixes violin with guitars and mandocello to create a unique take on the folk sound.
