RESPECTED stars of the UK folk scene Nick Wyke and Becki Driscoll are set to bring their fiddles to the Bournemouth Folk Club this Sunday at the Ocean View Hotel. The North Devon duo produces a joyous collision of English traditional music and contemporary bowed strings.
Becki grew up in Bridport, having played with various local groups including the West Dorset Music Centre, while Nick has lived in North Devon for as long as he can remember and plays fiddle, guitar, bass and sings.
They first collaborated as a fiddle duo on a busking trip around Spain and Portugal. Since then, they have made a strong impact on the British folk scene and received national and international acclaim.
Their passion for English traditional music and the violin has led to the development of their unique style. Becki’s melodic, emotive violin and viola blend with Nick’s driving fiddle chords and powerful vocals to create a rich, captivating sound.
Tickets for this gig £10 (NUS £5). The Bournemouth Folk Club is at Ocean View Hotel, East Overcliff Drive, Bournemouth. See bournemouthfolkclub.com
