WITH St. Patrick’s Day coming up on March 17, what better way to celebrate early than with The Dublin Legends, formerly of The Dubliners at the Regent in Christchurch on March 14 at 7.30pm.
The Dublin Legends are Sean Cannon, Eamon Campbell, Patsy Watchorn and Gerry O’Connor, formerly of the internationally renowned Irish chart toppers, The Dubliners. In 2012 this legendary Irish folk group celebrated 50 years in the music business by receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award at the BBC 2 Folk Awards.
They followed this up with their biggest ever UK tour, culminating in a magical night at the Royal Albert Hall. Sadly, last year also saw the sudden passing of founding member, “Banjo” Barney McKenna.
The remaining four members have decided to keep the legacy alive as The Dublin Legends, formerly of The Dubliners.
The Christchurch show will see all the classic songs and ballads including Whiskey In The Jar, Dirty Old Town, The Wild Rover, Seven Drunken Nights, Molly Malone and many more.
The concert really is like a celebration of a lifetime of Dubliners’ hits, with a touch of the blarney thrown in for good measure.
