VOTED Best Live Act at BBC Radio 2’s Folk Awards for an unprecedented fifth time this year, Bellowhead are heading to the Lighthouse Poole next year.

They have made repeat appearances on BBC’s Later with Jools Holland, such as the ‘invite only’ Hootenanny show.

They have also been commissioned to record the new signature tune for BBC Radio 4’s The Archers. The folk supergroup play the Lighthouse on February 15.

Featuring a four-piece brass section, the band are renowned for their energetic live shows in which members often switch instruments during their performances, often playing more than 20 instruments between them, while six members of the band provide the vocals.

Including folk stars John Spiers and Jon Boden, Bellowhead comprises a talented horde of musicians. Bellowhead have also demonstrated their crossover appeal too. They confidently edge into the worlds of jazz and rock with songs that are often bawdy, invariably anarchic and impossible to sit still to.

Four albums, a glut of awards, sell-out tours and a long trail of thunderous festival appearances down the line, Bellowhead have transported folk music into hitherto unknown territory, introducing a whole new audience to it with them. Don’t miss your chance to see the utterly unique contemporary folk band.
