A NEW map has been created of independent businesses across Bournemouth.

Bournemouth Scene created its first map back in 2015, and 20,000 copies were distributed around the town listing more than 150 quirky cafés, unique retailers and community and arts venues.

The new map is available online, with window stickers sent out to listed businesses directing their customers to the website.

"During our exploring we have seen a rise in the number of independent, quirky businesses and we knew that a map to show all these venues in one place is more important than ever," said co-founder Michael French.

His colleague Daisy Carr said: "We hear so many stories about people in Bournemouth who are starting up innovative projects, we want to find a way that we can share those stories and inspire more of this activity in the town."

The Bournemouth Scene is not just about business. New to the 2017 online map is the 'Positive Pursuits' category including community projects, not-for-profits and out-of-the-ordinary experiences.

From urban farming with Grounded Enterprises to exploring outer space at the Science Zone or getting up close to ancient Egyptian mummies at the Bournemouth Natural Science Society.
