A FERNDOWN manufacturing company have created their own bursary fund to support young people planning to study at college.
Superior Seals have created a fund with Dorset Community Foundation for 16 to 21-year-olds in East Dorset who plan to study a science, technology, engineering or maths course at either Bournemouth and Poole College or Brockenhurst College.
Mark Wallis, commercial director at Superior, which manufacture rubber 'o' ring seals and special mouldings, said: "We have always shown commitment to young people in education or training through our own Apprenticeship Scheme and Training Academy.
"The newly set up STEM Bursary Fund with the Dorset Community Foundation will focus on those who are less fortunate than others and help provide them with bursaries for travel costs, course fees, special equipment, IT equipment and course related clothing."
Dorset Community Foundation manages a number of corporate funds for companies that incorporate support local individuals, charities or organisations as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility.
The Superior STEM Bursary Fund is currently open for applications of up to £1,500. For more information and application forms can be accessed by going to Dorsetcommunityfoundation.org
