Published on 17/09/2014

MORRELL-CROSS Alderman Mrs. EMILY Known to most as Emmy, passed away peacefully on September 9th 2014 after a long illness aged 71 years. She was a devoted wife to Les, a loving mother to Darren and proud nana to Connor, Skye and Amber. Emmy was a highly vocal member of Bournemouth Borough Council for more than 20 years and honoured to be Mayor of Bournemouth 2004/2005. Her crowning moment was when she, as Mayor, escorted HRH The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh during their royal visit to Bournemouth. Emmy dedicated her life to the people of Bournemouth during her role as a local Councillor for Moordown and as Chairman of Housing. Since 1974 Emmy and her husband Les have shared their home with, and cared for, people suffering with mental health problems. Emmy supported many good causes and charities over the years; these included the War Memorial Homes and T.S.Phoebe. She will be sadly missed by all those who knew her and who’s lives she touched. Her Funeral Service will take place at Bournemouth Crematorium on Friday September 26th at 2.00pm. Bright casual dress code please because Emmy wanted this occasion to be a Celebration of her Life. The life that she lived to the full.
