AFC Bournemouth: Loan spell at Peterborough helped Josh McQuoid

Bournemouth Echo: IN ACTION: Josh McQuoid IN ACTION: Josh McQuoid

JOSH McQuoid feels game time at Peterborough last season was vital for his development after finding his chances limited at Cherries.

The 24-year-old forward spent the final few months of 2013/14 on loan at Posh and netted in their 3-1 win over Chesterfield in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final at Wembley.

He also featured in Posh’s squads for both legs of the League One play-off semi-final.

McQuoid told the Cherries website: “I spoke to the manager (Eddie Howe) and the staff at the end of the season and they were pleased with how things went.

“I was in and out for a bit, but I managed to get a good run of games at Peterborough and built up my fitness.

“Having been out for so long, it was a good to be out there and playing again. It was just what I needed because I couldn’t stay here and sit in the stands.

“Even though the training is good here, I needed game time.

“But I felt like there was more to come from me because I was just getting going.

“Injuries in pre-season meant it was difficult for me and in the end the season ended too soon for me.

“Hopefully I can work hard over the summer and give myself a chance when training starts again.”

League One is his level, at best. One purple patch few weeks some 4 years ago cannot be a meal ticket for an entire career.

As a youth product of ours we should all wish him the best, but I'm sure most would agree he's unlikely to get much first team action here.

Nice one !

Trouble with the McQoid saga is we made a "killing" when Kenny Jacket (was it?) bought him on a knee jerk after a couple of hat tricks but PG negated that nice bit of business by bringing him back.

I note that Scott is still playing better than Josh !

No sign of the Russian wanting his money back...not so sure about the Swiss up the road though (Manager gone and now looks like everybody is for sale). Suspect you'll lose at least 4 this Summer and possibly as many as 8. £4m for Lambert? only £1m more for an England international who has had two good years in the Premiership than we were forced to accept for a player who's never played in the Premiership? Yeah, looks like your board is fighting tooth and nail to keep the squad together. As soon as they've cut their losses as much as possible, they'll say "our work is finished" and leave the mess for somebody else. Definitely worth a bet on your lot for relegation next year.

That’s another bet to add to my bookies list:-
1) England to win the World Cup – good odds, worth a punt
2) My daughter to last in a job until the end of the month – impossible odds!
3) The SCGs to get relegated – hardly worth the stake!!

It’s a shame that Mincski Arserov wasn’t in the Royal Artillery as his team is going to be cannon fodder for the Premiership big-guns next season!

Your daughter sounds like my cousin. When he first went to claim the dole he put his profession down as "coronation stand erector" it was the early 70's and he figured he wouldn't get offered any work for a while. It's worked so far, but he's starting to get a little worried.

If Liz holds out for a few more years he'll officially be retired from the coronation stand business !

RAF Gatow in Berlin for 3 years, keeping the Reds from our shores, a distinguished service career obviously not recognised on here as evidenced by the horrid abuse, some of which alludes to my sexuality.

As to comments on the demise of the SCG, I see the BBC are reporting the new manager is to be given a budget of 50 million and no further player sales. Nice!

Ricky has gone to his hometown team, good business for us (and him), 4 million, plus add ons. He is a true SFC legend, look at his goal scoring record for us. Rest assured though, we will not name a stand after him. Way too tacky.

Trouble is that Lalana wants a move to Liverpool, and Shaw to Man U, Schneiderlin wants a move to a side in the Championship League (Arsenal are interested and in Clyne too) It's difficult to keep unhappy players who stand to earn a great deal more than the Saints afford to can pay them. Ward-Prowse looks to be a ready made replacement for Adam Lalana, but a headache for the new Manager. I have a lot of sympathy for the Saints supporters who have lost so many very good players over the years to the money boys. Great Academy though.

Then clobbered for intel training at RAF North Luffenham 1978 and then Digby til 2004 (obviously other places in between) then RAF Waddington til 2007 when put out to pasture.
