NEW BOSS: Christchurch have appointed Adie Arnold

NEWLY-APPOINTED Christchurch boss Adie Arnold has defended his return to management with another non-paying club having left Verwood Town less than eight weeks ago.

Priory acted swiftly to secure the ex-Potters manager’s services 24 hours after it was announced that Michael Cuffie had resigned following 12 months in the Hurn Bridge hot seat.

Arnold, the most successful manager in Verwood’s history during an eight-and-a-half-year stint at Potterne Park, will be assisted by trusted coach Danny Saxby and takes charge with immediate effect.

Christchurch chairman Mark Duffy confirmed Arnold would have no playing budget to work with and having cited financial constraints as a reason behind his Verwood departure, the new man moved to explain his decision.

Arnold, who held talks with Priory over their managerial vacancy last season, told the Daily Echo: “There were a lot of issues behind the scenes at Verwood and the budget was only a minor part of why I felt I couldn’t push them on.

“There are people out there who will criticise me but most will understand that there is more to it than just money at this level.

"With all due respect to Verwood, Christchurch is an established Wessex League club with a lovely playing surface and cracking facilities and I see it as a real opportunity to step up.”

Both Arnold and Duffy revealed they had set their sights on a top-half finish for next season with the new manager keen to set out the playing side's targets over the next three years in the coming weeks.

Hardly breaking news I would say that was pretty predictable of XChurch and Adie I would like to be a fly in the wall when he has a meeting with the players after all he did was slag them off this season yet finished at 19th place I think Christchurch could be in trouble next season.. I know verwood Werner sorry to see the back of him

As previously commented, i love this previous quote...

Adie Arnold will not be at Christchurch this season, next season or any other season. We fundamentally do not pay players, you can see this by the players that left when Kempy left. Mr Ham united why don't you go and ask kempy face to face if he or any other player was payed when he was at Christchurch, we do not have a budget at Christchurch and if you think we do then you are very very deluded.
Adie was offered the job and he turned it down that is the case closed.

Xchurch and Adie have just made themselves look like idiots especially whoever posted the above comment looks an even bigger muppet than Arnold ! I can't see him finishing anywhere close to the top half next season to be fair to cuffie he did well to keep church in the league and get 16th place lets hope Arnold working with no budget doesn't affect his capabilities.. Oh wait.. He still doesn't have one!

The "no budget at Christchurch" is a myth.
There is an "unofficial" budget which Kempy took advantage of while he was there and Cuffie failed with last season.
If there was an official budget the current Main club sponsor would withdraw all funding as they do not agree with payments to players at this level.

There is lots of myths surrounding Christchurch including the one about it being a well run club! It took kempy 6 years to get a decent result Adie hasn't had one in this league and cuffie finished with an expected but commendable league result considering he had no players at the beginning of this season. Kempy finished the same in his first season at the church and Adie will finish lower. Simon Browne should have been appointed manager

After all the slating Arnold did of the church players I would not be surprised if none stayed! That would be nothing less than he deserved he's too full of self importance and too quick to criticise when if we really look at the facts, he got beaten twice by the team he said were 'the worst'.
I would predict this time next year he will be eating his words once again

Well he left verwood lingering over the relegation zone so what players are gonna be good enough to get Christchurch up to top 6. Bad move for Christchurch, if he couldn't do a job at verwood with no budget he isn't at Christchurch, if he waited a day could of gone for bashley job!!! Simon Browne would of been better unless he is on bashleys hit list!!

In My opinion, Adie should have taken the job last year, it is a year too late if he really wants to finish in the top half as he may of had a chance to of kept the majority of the players who left to go to Winchester and later on the players who left for other clubs.

To put the record straight about these Myths & Rumours -

As previously being very involved with Christchurch Football Club, I know for a fact that there is no 'official' or 'unoffical' budget. I think you will find the reasons behind Kempy's success was down to a few different things;

1) The quality of youngsters that came through the Under 18's for a number of years, which was not just luck. There was hardwork done behind the scenes by the club to bring in the the best Grange, Branksome or Redhill sides coming through in the local area.

2) The contacts Kempy and his assistants John Mace and Jim Totczyk had were vast, allowing them to bring good players to the club at the right time to keep the club developing and not having to pay them a penny.

3) The togetherness of the team and how it had developed year on year, and how all of the players were all mates on and off the pitch.

Good luck to Adie, hopefully Christchurch can have an upturn in fortunes with him in charge.

Maybe after all the speculation about Adie`s move to Xchurch at the end of last season and the beginning of this one, it would have been best if he had gone then. There is a lot to be said for a settled playing side, knowing who is going to take a serious interest in the smooth running of the team.
Pity Danny Saxby has decided to go too. Nathan will also go, closely followed by Lovell and probably see the return of Haskell to Wessex League football. Good luck to them all in their new venture.
Also good luck to Carl Poore @ VTFC.

Most people who are clueless outsiders really don't have a clue how hard a managerial role is let alone without a budget and I take my hat off to any manager, past or present that has the balls to take on such a role and keep their team in the league.
Managers get a lot of crap and it's not an easy job maybe people should take that into account and actually put themselves in that position before mud slinging.
Fact cuffie kept church in the league and dud well to, Fact Adie will probably manage to keep them in the league too. Let's be realistic they will never move up a league because they have no budget and if by some miracle Adie finished in the top 6 so what, they can never progress further anyway. Case closed

Not sure who this Tanker person is, but he seems very narrow minded, unrealistic and agressive. Firstly with his comments about Adie last year and secondly with his immature and aggressive responses.

If he had actually been involved in football long enough he would realise it has a funny way of biting you in the bum. For his sake lets hope Adie has not seen the embarressing comments he has posted, if he has it would not surprise me if he tries to get rid of him from the club if he is even involved at the club at all.

Good luck to Adie and Danny.

Let's get one thing straight I do not have any problem what so ever with Adie, in fact I'm meeting him tomorrow! At the time of me posting that comment I had a conversation with Cuffie and things and circumstances have changed with him hence his resignation! I am glad to see Adie at the club and hope he does well! I will fully give my support as a Christchurch fan and someone who helps out behind the scenes!
What really grinds my gears is the fact the certain people think we pay, we don't pay expenses or anything I know this for a fact because 2 of my brothers played for Christchurch for several years and neither got a penny!
I would invite any of you to the club and see what the club is about!

If you can back up your comments like Tanker69 has done then bring it on if not the give the guy a break.
