AFC Bournemouth: McQuoid joins Peterborough

Bournemouth Echo: LOAN MOVE: Josh McQuoid LOAN MOVE: Josh McQuoid

CHERRIES frontman Josh McQuoid has joined League One high-fliers Peterborough United on a month’s loan with a view to remaining at London Road for the rest of the season.

McQuoid, who was also a loan target for MK Dons, has been restricted to just one appearance for Cherries this season.

The 24-year-old lined up in the 1-1 draw with Ipswich in December, having been ruled out by a knee injury since pre-season.

McQuoid, a product of the Dean Court youth ranks, was one of former boss Paul Groves’s first signings when he returned to the club from Millwall in May 2012.

He made 39 appearances during Cherries’ promotion campaign before suffering cartilage damage to his right knee in the summer, which required surgery.

McQuoid left Dean Court for Millwall in a £515,000 deal in January 2011 after initially moving to the Den on loan. He was snapped up by the Lions following an explosive 14-week spell that saw him plunder 12 goals in just 16 starts for Cherries and earn his first full cap for Northern Ireland.

so much for being "sympathetic" I've never understood nor been a supporter of the decision to bring him back to Cherries. Especially after the fact he appeared to go to chase the money !

However, I can see this is a sensible move for all concerned - he's never gonna get a game at the Court while players remin fit & healthy.

Apart from one good spell as mentioned in the article which I reckon will never be repeated or even come close to, do you really believe that he is anywhere good enough or even likely to stay fit for any period of time to do anything for Afcb ever again, I think that is more likely to be the case with most fans, wish him all the best though

Good luck Josh. I hope this will prove a good chance to get some much needed first tem football and return to AFCB with the energy and love of the game you displayed before the disastrous move way. You scored some absolute crackers, not least your last before leaving, which will always be remembered. Your work rate has always been good an you undoubtedly have the skill.
I dearly hope you can recapture that form and your self confidence, and return to Eddie's side soon.
Best wishes.

Quite clearly he does not feature in Eddies future plans based on the recent transfers in. Bmth as a club chose to bring him back, the injury is unfortunate and he was OK against Ipswich. Why take it out on him? Your view is extreme and ridiculous. I hope it works out for him at P'boough.

Peterbrough have got great strikers, I don't think Josh will be starting up front for them. I hope he scores a lot of goals for them, but I think Peterbrough could be the wrong club for him. I would also like to see Pitman loaned out.
anyone know the whereabouts of donal mcdermott? i must have missed that story as to what happened to him

I always thought he was played in the wrong position last season which didn't flatter his strengths and obviously this season just hasn't got off the ground for him at DC. So I think it's a good decision for Josh to go and get some games and fitness under his belt, with a recall clause after the first 28 days we may yet need him this year.

So all the best Josh I do hope you can get regular games with the Posh.

^ also re ASM: Where the wotsit has Donal got to????????? It seems strange that EH will hang around for Coulabally to get fit yet not even have MsDermott on the bench anymore?
Answers on a postcard please etc etc

Just in an effort to keep the thread on McDermott going, keen as I am to find out why he is simply not being featured in any publicity, there seems to be an air of mystery over him and not to mention Zubar. As for McQuoid, however he is rated by E.H. there are only 11 places to get into. His one surprise appearance against Ipswich was not a bad showing at all but again mystery surrounds the “in the team one minute” and out on loan the next type of policy that a good number of players have had to endure in the last two seasons. Line Pitman up for a similar stint I think in the near future. So, come on you “moles” close to the club. Where’s McDermott?

Training with the development squad, Eddie don't want him near the first team as I believe he is a bad influence, I too would like to know what has happened to Zubar

Zubar has a serious knee injury and it scuppered his move to Bury earlier this season. McDermott came with a reputation and has done little to improve it if rumours are to be believed. Border line for league one and a mile away from championship standards IMHO.

Maybe a loan spell to Pompey would be the thing for Donal then?
