BOSS the bull mastiff, who is lovingly described as a “big old wuss,” is desperate for a new home after living in an animal rescue centre for almost a year. He may look like he can take care of himself but Boss is a shy and timid dog who needs kind and patient owners.

He has been in the care of the RSPCA at Ashley Heath since January and staff there are keen to see him rehomed.

Nicky Anthony, of the RSPCA, said: “He’s quite a big boy but he’s a bit of a scaredy cat really.

“Anything spooks him, we bought him into the reception area when we were putting up the Christmas decorations and he was even quite scared of bits falling from the tree.

“He needs someone who has experience with a large breed and who doesn’t mind a nervous dog.

“He’s a bit slobbery as well which can put some people off but he will make a wonderful pet for the right person.”

Boss, who is two-and-a- half years old, was brought in by one of the RSPCA’s inspectors because he wasn’t being looked after properly.

He was very underweight but his health has since improved.

He is good with other dogs socially but needs to be re-homed as an only pet and preferably in an adult only house.

Anyone interested in meeting Boss can call the RSPCA on 0300 1230749 or visit the centre during its opening hours.
