Well thanks a bunch red arrows. On the tip off from this rag I went down to Durley Chine, fired up my disposable barbecue at 5PM (yes an hour early, get over it) knocked back 2 Weston vintage ciders, loaded up the sausages to cook and waited for the display.

At 5.27PM exactly as advertised over they came, slowly, quietly and a couple let off a small amount of white smoke that Dot Cotton could have bettered with her first fag of the day.

I waited for a swoop and some diving about but NO, NOTHING, they vanished never to be seen or heard again.

I wished I'd stayed in bed watching the tennis.

What did you expect? They weren't displaying in Bournemouth, nor did they advertise that they would. Granted it does seem odd that the Echo would chose to promote their presence in this way but if you had actually read the story you'd know that they were simply using Bournemouth airport as a base of operations around other displays.

The flypast and use of smoke (each plane has only a few minutes of it which is meant for the display itself) is a bonus which the squadron often throw in when their flightpath takes them over a public event or tourist attraction.

You disappointed yourself.
