FIRE crews worked to free a pony stuck in mud this afternoon.
Dorset Fire and Rescue’s Poole animal rescue teams and a crew from Ferndown attended following a call made to firefighters just after 4pm with reports of a small pony seen on Wimborne Road East, Stapehill.
On arrival, fire fighters requested assistance in the form of a Land Rover with a load-carrying capacity, which was sent from Christchurch.
A vet and the RSPCA were also in attendance, and the animal was freed using straps and a slide board.
Fire fighters left the scene at 5.10pm.
