BOURNEMOUTH Square will be getting even more festive when the Christmas lights are officially switched on tomorrow.

The sparkling event will include celebrity appearances by Eastenders actor Scott Maslen and piano entertainer Bobby Crush, who are also starring in the pantomime Aladdin at the Pavilion.

Scott, who played Jack Branning in Eastenders and took part in Strictly Come Dancing said: “I’m really looking forward to switching on the lights this weekend – hoping there will be a great turn out in Bournemouth.”

Fellow actor Bobby Crush, who is playing the much loved Widow Twankey part in the town’s pantomime, which opens on Saturday, December 7, said: “I’m very happy to be in Bournemouth for Aladdin and can’t wait to see everyone at the Bournemouth Lights Switch On event.”

Entertainment starts at 3pm with the lights going on at 5pm.

Jon Weaver, Marketing and Events Manager, of Bournemouth Tourism said: “The Christmas lights switch-on is a great way to kick off the Festive season in Bournemouth.

“The Town Centre BID, supported by the Coastal BID and Bournemouth Borough Council has provided some fantastic family attractions in the town, including the Gardens of Light and the ice rink, and Jack fm have lots of fun activities and entertainment lined-up for visitors.”

The square has already attracted lots of visitors this year with The Bournemouth Christmas festival.
