IT’S official - Dorset is getting its own indoor trampoline park and it will be open in time for the summer holidays.

Planning permission has been granted to turn a double unit at Ferndown Industrial Estate into a bouncing destination.

The venue will include an open jump area full of 70 trampolines, a dodgeball area, a foam pit and a Ninja assault course.

A mezzanine level will overlook the jump area with a viewing stand, a number of private party rooms and a cafe.

This is the inaugural site for new leisure company Activate.

The Weymouth-based family business is headed by husband and wife team Pam and Martin deWavrin and their daughter Sarah-Louise.

"We are bouncing with excitement that we have now been granted planning permission," said Pam.

"Everything is in place to start the construction of the park and we are hoping to open in early July just in time for the summer holidays and will be offering a fantastic range of activities for the whole family to have fun and keep fit.

“As well as dozens of trampolines covering the floor and walls one of the biggest attractions we hope will be the Ninja assault course.

“The course resembles the obstacles that can be seen on Ninja Warrior and is quite a good challenge for people training to take part in events such as Tough Mudder.”

The 15,000 square foot park will be the first in the county - however there is a similar attraction in Southampton.

When fully functional the park will cater for 110 jumpers at any one time.

There is also a chance to join the Activate team.

They are are recruiting now, with posts available for site management, gymnastic/exercise class instructors, receptionist, safety supervisors, the party team and café.

The park will be for people of all ages and will cater to both adult and children’s exercise classes as well as the traditional free jumping.
